Introduction
So you are ready to create your Shopify store but what theme do you pick?
There are over 100 Shopify themes on the Shopify store alone. This means there are over 100 options for your Shopify store. But what is the best for you?
Today., I’m going to walk you through some of my favorite Shopify themes and show you how even free themes can help you to build a million dollar store.
Let’s jump into it.
What is a theme?
So what is a Shopify theme? Put simply, themes provide you with base functionality and the look and feel of your Shopify store. Themes allow you to quickly and easily get your store from bare bones, to looking and working in the easiest way possible.
Themes will provide you with a terrific starting point when it comes to built in features, typography, imagery and basic layout.
The most important aspects to look at when picking a theme is what your most popular pages will be:
- Your Homepage
- Your Collection Pages
- Your Product Pages
There is no perfect theme. Even still, I am going to walk you through some of my favorite themes on the Shopify store and why they could be a great option for you.
Dawn
First is dawn. Dawn is the most popular Shopify theme and with good reason. It provides a lot of built in functionality such as mega menus, quick buy, cross selling promo banners and more. What’s more, Dawn allows you to truly showcase your brand on Shopify by staying simple and letting your imagery tell the brand story.
Dawn really provides a austere and simple design that focuses on your products. Additionally, it allows customers to easily find your top selling products. .
But when researching themes, keep in mind we want to review the look and feel of the homepage, the category page and the product page.
Dawn is great on both desktop and mobile and provides clean and intuitive product pages.
The best part of Dawn, is that it is a free Shopify Theme.
Impulse
If your Shopify store has more than 30 SKUs, Impulse can be a great option for you. Jam packed full of features, Impulse is one of the most feature rich themes on the Shopify store.
Impulse has countless features such as:
- EU translations (EN, FR, IT, DE, ES)
- Store locator
- Age verifier
- Countdown timer
- Color swatches
So jumping into the store here you can see how this theme is really tailored towards stores with a large catalog. Again, we want to review the look and feel of the homepage, the category page and the product page.
Launch
Like the name states, launch is a great option for those launching a product, specifically a single product. These themes are what I like to call a single page store. Essentially, providing all the information that you need to describe to the customers and the option to purchase right from the homepage.
Even though this is a “light” theme, Launch still has a bunch of features built in such as:
- Store locator
- Age verifier
- Sticky header
- Breadcrumbs
- and more
Conclusion:
In conclusion, when looking for a Shopify theme you want to focus on your needs and this will mainly come down to:
- How may SKUs you have in your store?
- What kind of design are you looking for?
- What functionality you need?
After these three questions are answered, you want to be sure to review the theme’s
- homepage
- collection pages
- and product pages
With over 100 Themes on Shopify and hundreds more provided through other sites like Envato, you have countless options that will help you build out your million dollar store!
Now go and grow!
